New Delhi: The UP police has busted a major kidney racket in Gurgaon, involving at least seven doctors and a 'quack'. A police team from Moradabad unearthed the racket and arrested four doctors during a raid on two houses in Palam Vihar and Gurgaon late Thursday night.
The arrests were made after it was found that the doctors had removed kidneys of three labourers from Uttar Pradesh without their knowledge.
The labourers — one each from Agra, Hapur and Ghaziabad districts — had been brought to Delhi with the lure of jobs. When they came to the capital, they were taken to the hospital and their kidneys were removed.
Moradabad Senior Superintendent of Police Prem Prakash said they were still looking for three other doctors, including the alleged kingpin of the racket, Amit Kumar, who have been absconding.
Two of those arrested have been identified as Upendra, an MBBS doctor from Ballabhgarh, and Jagdish, allegedly a 'quack'. "Three of their accomplices were also arrested during the raid on a house in Sector 23 A," the SSP said.
