Kidney racket: Doctor to be taken for narco tests

Lucknow: Upendra Kumar, the doctor arrested for his alleged involvement in the Gurgaon kidney racket, is to be sent to Bangalore for narco tests, Uttar Pradesh Police said here Tuesday.
Upendra, who was ordered a five-day police remand by a local court in Moradabad, is allegedly among the four doctors involved in the multi-million rupee human organ racket that was busted in Gurgaon, bordering the national capital, last week.
"We are going to take him into custody in order to get more leads into the whole racket which has larger ramifications that what has been exposed so far," Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police Brij Lal told IANS Tuesday.
"Upendra will be sent to Bangalore for narco tests later," he said.
According to Lal, "Initial interrogation of Upendra has already revealed the modus operandi of the racket that had its links not only with several parts of the country but also abroad."
Kidney recipients were stated to have been from USA, Canada, Greece, Dubai and even as far as Australia, while the donors duped were usually brought from Uttar Pradesh or Bihar, he disclosed.
