International airline exec held for chain snatching

New Delhi: A gang of chain snatchers that struck in many of the biggest markets of Delhi had kept police and the residents worried for some time.
It turns out now that the gang was led by a 24-year-old woman called Ekta, an executive with an international airline.
Apparently Ekta wanted to arrange money for her wedding and therefore took to the crime for making some quick money. She reportedly roped in her juvenile brother and his friend to help her with the thefts.
“Their modus was very simple: the Santro car would slow down beside a lady who would be walking the street, then one of the boys would stretch his hand out and snatch the chain and the car would speed away,” said DCP crime Madhup Tiwari.
Police have recovered several mobile phones, credit cards, purses, digital cameras and gold jewelry from the gang.
