BSF man took 'supari' to kill Kuki rebel leader

NEW DELHI: A BSF constable accepted "supari" from a banned northeast outfit to eliminate a senior leader of the Kuki Revolutionary Army in the city. This shocking disclosure was made by Delhi Police on Thursday after the arrest of Malkit Singh, 24, who allegedly bludgeoned to death KRA general secretary Khuplam Hangsing at his Hari Nagar home near Ashram in south Delhi on November 12. Malkit, who was arrested from Jalandhar, where he had gone to take part in police games, told police that he was accompanied by nine other men, all associated with the banned outfit, United National Liberation Front, when he hit Hangsing with a hammer on his head and killed him. Malkit told police that he was paid Rs 15,000 for the job. Police have also arrested another BSF constable, Wahengbam Thoithoiba Meitei, 25, who was the conduit between UNLF and Malkit. He was arrested from Chandigarh and is said to be close to several UNLF leaders. While the main accused in the case and active UNLF member, Thombi Singh, is yet to be arrested, investigations have revealed that a financial dispute between Hangsing and UNLF leaders led to the killing.
