Obscene profile bothers Gurgaon girl

GURGAON: Despite the Gurgaon police claiming that they are fully equipped to handle cyber crimes, a 20-year-old girl from Palam Vihar alleged that weeks have passed since she lodged a complaint of her photographs being edited and uploaded in a social networking site but the police have not yet made any progress. The victim said that she had filed a complaint at the Palam Vihar police station on December 27 last year. "I had mentioned that my photographs and both residence and mobile phone numbers were posted on an abusive website without my consent. I submitted all the edited photographs which were posted on the site as proof," she said. The girl added that she used to spend hours chatting on the internet and on December 22 she suddenly found 'obscene' photographs of herself on a website. They had obviously been tampered with. "I had posted my photographs on the net but those were edited to defame me. When I took up the issue with the SHO, he suggested I refrain from chatting and keep my mobile switched off. It was shocking and since then there has been no progress," she alleged. The girl said she has even mentioned the name of the man who has allegedly defaced her photographs. "I expected the police to take immediate action when I went to meet the SHO with my mother," she said, handing out a copy of the compliant filed at the police station.
