Britney's custody case on Feb 19

LOS ANGELES: Troubled pop star Britney Spears' next child custody court date has been pushed back to February 19 due to her latest hospitalisation, according to a Los Angeles court. Judge Scott Gordon heard arguments on Monday from lawyers for the 26-year-old singer-dancer and from those for her ex-husband Kevin Federline. The two are battling for custody of their sons, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James. Court spokesman Alan Parachini said the magistrate decided to reset the hearing due to the absence of Spears, who has been hospitalised since last Thursday in a Los Angeles psychiatric ward. Spears' closed-door care was extended by two weeks on Sunday, according to People magazine. Federline already has preliminary custody of the two children. Lawyers for Spears have tried to renew her visitation rights that were revoked in early January following an incident involving the children. A second court date for Spears was to be set later on Monday, this time on the subject of the legal guardianship under which the singer has been temporarily placed. Judge Reva Goetz will decide whether or not Britney Spears' father and an attorney will maintain control of her affairs and her fortune. Spears was the world's best-paid singer from 2000 to 2005, but since her separation from Federline in 2006 she has endured a dramatic and highly publicised string of artistic, legal and personal setbacks.
