After bringing his hometown Delhi to its knees at a live rock concert last year, actor Saif Ali Khan is set to pick up his guitar once again. This time, the venue is Mumbai.
Saif, an accomplished musician, says he will make sure that he has enough time to rehearse.
Saif is apprehensive about displaying his skill on the guitar in front of a cheering audience. Suppose, he misses a rhythm!
"After the Delhi concerts, I am ready to play in other cities, including Mumbai. I'll play rock music on my guitar, mostly tracks by the band AC/DC. It should be good fun. I had a whale of a time performing with my parent band Parikrama in Delhi. Now I am doing four more concerts."
The first of the four concerts was held in Bangalore Jan 18. All the Saif-Parikrama concerts are being held in Jan and Feb 2008. "I'll rehearse in Alibaug. We'll play in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore. My shootings won't be affected because I'll be rehearsing on the weekends. This is something I want to do. It gives me a great high to be on the stage playing and singing."
Saif had not only played the guitar, but also sung in the Delhi concert last year. He may do it again. "I can't say I'm a great singer, but I can carry a note. Never in my wildest dream did I think it was so much fun."
Saif is clear about what he wants to do in his concerts. "None of that rock-star-in-scruffy-jeans, long-hair, dragging-his-guitar on-to-stage act for me. I think my performance will be more of what I want to express than what a rock concert is supposed to be," he said.
Saif is very pleased with his band Parikrama. "They're really good. I enjoyed being on stage with them in Delhi and I decided to do another concert with Parkirama in Mumbai. The best thing about the Delhi concert was the knowledgeable audience. There were no stargazers there, only rock fans who grooved to the beats."
