After making a lackadaisical entry in Bollywood with a commercial rib-tickler like Garam Masala, Neetu Chandra made her presence felt with an author-backed role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Traffic Signal. Now, the young lady is all set to take on the filmi fiefdom with four of her films ready to be released this year and looks forward to a great and successful innings in Bollywood. In a tete-a-tete here, she gives some quotable quotes even as she recuperates from a severe viral infection. On her illness: “We were shooting in Manali for Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and I caught a severe chill and viral infection in the -5 degree temperature. I am down but not out!” On her burgeoning kitty : “Along with Oye Lucky ... (which is a love story), I am doing 123 with Suniel Shetty, which is an out-and-out comedy and I play a Jat cop in that. Flat Number 13 B with Madhavan is a thriller wherein I play the role of a newlywed girl. Then there’s another film with Rahul Dholakia but I am not supposed to give its details.” On balancing act: “Life is very hectic these days but I am not complaining. Yes there’s a lot of travelling happening these days and I have breakfast at one place and lunch at another. The daily routine goes haywire but I can balance it through strict regime. In fact, I mostly survive on fruits, salads and juices to keep my weight in check.” On exposure: “I have no problems with exposure as long as I can carry it off. I look sweet in a swimming costume and not obscene. I look good in all kinds of costumes, so why should I worry at all about exposure?” On love: “Love is in the air but not exactly in my life! There’s so much happening on the career front that I just don’t have the time for a committed relationship. And no guy would wait on the sidelines so that I can finish my assignments and then spend some time with him. And I am quite cool with the status quo. Let me make a mark first in the industry.” On making a mark : “It’s important for me to be known as a good actress and to be respected here. Just look around and you will find that many actresses who were earlier into exposing, are now deviating to serious roles. Why is that? After all, they were getting the roles earlier too but now they are seeking respectability.” On controversies: “Till now, I have been known as a non-controversial actress, but now, that I am doing so many films, I am sure controversies will follow because it’s a package deal. My fundas are clear – any publicity is good publicity for me.”
